![]() The yellow backboard is in homage to the original opening title sequence, the original title of the show was superimposed on a yellow background. It took some work getting the effect I wanted, but in the end each piece was created independently, painted, and then mounted in the farm. Autobot and Deception symbols, weathered and damaged as if they came straight from the battlefield. So that’s what I designed and put together for the show. What really got me was the idea that someone would appropriate them and then display the pieces, almost like trophies, evidence tags and all. The more I thought about it, the more I felt that these pieces would have been collected by the police and held as evidence. Having watched the Transformers cartoon as a kid, I always wondered what happened to all the stuff that would have been damaged, or knocked off these giant robots after a battle? Did someone come by and pick them up? The Deception Tetrajet fighters scratched that itch, but the time to have things submitted drew closer, I wanted to submit something that I always thought would be cool. When I heard that Artboy Galleries was planning on a Transformers exhibition, I knew I wanted to make something amazing for the show. One of the cool things about having access to a 3D printer is being able to act on ideas that spontaneously find their way into your mind. ![]()
